Luciel!

The world seemed to stop moving in that moment. He ignored her thrashing, the way her panic saturated the air around them. She pushed against him, trying to free herself, but she was met with resistance, a stone wall that refused to move. He froze, standing over her like a statue. His body stiffened, as if she had physically struck him. Emerald eyes were trained on her, but somehow not quite seeing her as he struggled to process what just happened.

Luciel!

Her struggle was nothing new. It was easy to ignore. But the name that fell from her lips, that was new. The only name that had ever passed her lips had been his own. She cried out this name with familiarity that suggested she thought this Luciel would save her. It sparked a jealousy in him that he did not know was possible. It spread across his skin like fire, burning him with its potency. It destroyed the frayed strands of his control. It sent him into a frenzy.

Luciel!

Lips peeled back to bare his teeth in a silent snarl. The growl that formed in his throat was a deep, feral sound. Merrin! Her name rolled off his tongue in a command, demanding her attention. His ears flattened against his skull as his hackles stood at attention. He waited, however long it took for her gaze to connect with his. He stood silently, nearly vibrating with rage as he continued to tower over her. He didn't care if she wore herself out from struggling or if she finally came to her senses, whichever came first was fine by him.

"Who is Luciel?" His voice was low, eerily so, like the calm before the storm. The name continued to bounce around in his skull, mocking him. The fury in his eyes was accompanied with a lethal focus. He wanted answers and he would have them, even if it meant he rounded up every Luciel in the area until one of them reacted to her.

Her struggling ceased with the the sound of her name that had been growled so harshly, it felt as though he might as well be holding a blade to her throat. Merrin did her best to keep from trembling as she turned her head slowly to peer up at Nalik where he was positioned above him. She saw it then. A maddened look within his eyes and that's when she realized as well that the trembling was not coming from her own body out of fear...it was his and it was out of a fierce rage.

Her ears mirrors his, flattening against her skull as she instinctively shrunk. If she could have melted into the earth at that moment, she would have...if only to escape the way his gaze bore into her to unveil whatever answers he could force from her. "Luciel, he's...he's..."

Merrin's chest tightened at the thought of having revealed Luciel's name without meaning to seized her own heart. How was she to answer this? Should she lie and say he was just someone she knew? That he was no one to ber. No...she would not continue to run from this. Impulsively, she blurted out, "He's my husband!"

She ripped the air from his lungs with only three little words. His mind froze as he struggled to comprehend what she had just said. He's my husband! He stared at her, the silence stretching on as if he was waiting for the rest of her joke. But no such words would come. His imposing frame vibrated, his anger so wildly out of control his body couldn't quite catch up. Her husband...

"Your husband..." He repeated, the words leaving a foul taste in his mouth. It was like a knife in his gut and she kept twisting it. "Does your husband know you are already married?" There was a subtle tip of his skull, his narrowed eyes fixated on the woman who had been nothing but a thorn in his side. Of all the things she could have spent the last four years doing, he hadn't expected her to settle down with someone else. But could he really be surprised? It had taken him so much time to locate her, she had obviously thought herself safe, free of his grasp forever.

His laughter came suddenly as he shoved away from her. He paced the width of the alley, still keeping himself between her and freedom. "Husband..." He spat the word like it was poison. Rage rolled off him in dangerous waves, expelled with each powerful step. Pacing kept him from wringing her neck right then and there. "Oh my love..." He crooned, facing her once more. His head was held high, his tail stiff and straight, he looked every bit the force of nature he was. "Any other secrets you're keeping from me?" He would inquire, though he wasn't entirely sure he wanted to know anymore, or she may not walk out of this alley.

She was drowning. Every second longer she spent in his midst was another that she felt she was being overtaken by the fear of times past. She knew that once she was submerged in it, she would completely shut down...numb herself to his every reaction as she had before. She could not allow that to happen, not ever again. For now, Merrin would continue to tread water as best she could.

He was curious and she stood in the wake of whatever his wrath would bring. Nalik repeated what she'd said and made an attempt at reminding her that she already had a husband. Her ears flattened at the observation and had her mind racing as she now realized that she would have to find a way to sever that tie somehow. The laughter took her off-guard and she shrunk back only for him to shove himself away and begin pacing. Merrin lifted her head and watched him, though she remained laying where she was, her instinct to take flight still pulsing. Unfortunately, his mass was still blocking her as though he anticipated that she would even think of trying.

He faced her then slowly and venom oozed from his mouth in the form of a sentiment that she decided she would not permit him to use. "I am not your love..." Her voice wavered slightly, but her tone was unmistakably defiant. In his wounded pride, she noticed him fluffing up the feathers of his ego as he worked to stand tall once again. What secrets could she possibly have for him? Merrin did not want to forfeit anything else to a man that knew only how to take...and she would let it be known. "I have no desire to share anything...or to continue this conversation with you." She did her best to speak up and to stand her ground.

Trigger warning: abuse, language

She remained where she was, laying in the dirt, looking up at him. I'm not your love. He smirked. She continued to shoot down his pet name, though it did little to stop him from calling such. He would approach her, coming to kneel beside her. Her defiance quivered, she clung to her backbone as she tried to get out of answering him. His gaze was contemplative as he looked down at her, studying her face. He'd reach out, stroking the side of her face gently in a single, sweeping motion. A low hum formed in the back of his throat, as if he were considering something.

Without warning, he'd grip her throat. He'd squeeze, flexing his grip around the delicate column. The only difference this time was he took care not to bruise her. He was older now, wiser, a war hero. He wouldn't leave evidence of his wives transgressions on her skin. All the while, his expression never changed. Not yet at least. "Your defiance was cute at first." He mused. "But now I'm afraid its just irritating." A small frown tugged at the corners of his mouth. He looked at her with disapproval, his voice teetering on the edge of disappointment.

"Should I guess? His grip never left her throat, even if she struggled. It had been so long since he felt her warmth under him, squirming in his grasp with desperation. "You got married." He sounded amuse, like he was listening to a joke. "I'd be willing to bet you've fucked him." He went on. "Has he knocked you up yet?" A growl followed his question, unable to help himself. Feral jealously flared its ugly head. His grip eased up, allowing her a small reprieve. "Are you a better mother to these pups? He would inquire, leaning towards her.

As he came in to stroke the side of her face, Merrin recoiled, her lip peeling back in the beginnings of a snarl. It was quickly wiped from her face, however, taken off-guard by the swift grasp he suddenly had on her throat. "Nal-!" She rasped his name, paws scrabbled at his forearms and chest, lavender eyes widening with fear as he gripped her. Tears formed at the corners of her eyes and she now couldn't stop them from streaming down her cheeks. A moment like this was something she only could have conjured up in one of her nightmares...

He started to try to fill in the blanks himself, musing on the details she refused to tell him. The way Nalik spoke of her relationship with Luciel and the portrait he painted of her as a mother...it began to make her feel disgusted with herself. She tucked her tail in between her legs, barely getting enough air in her lungs to whimper as he growled in her face. Merrin knew that the longer she stayed here, the more likely it was that she would never be free of him. She had to get out of this, somehow, someway. She blinked through her tears, her eyes frantically searching for the exit at the very least. It was there, just beyond her reach, yet just close enough. If she could just...

He loosened his grip ever so slightly and suddenly, her mind traveled to the training grounds. Nassar had taught her various movements in self-defense among all of the other lessons. Here and now, the recollection of those movements were most vital. Merrin squeezed her eyes shut for a moment and when they snapped open this time, they held a flame of determination and focus. She shifted her weight, dropping it to throw him off balance as she landed on her back. She reared one hind leg backwards and with all of her strength, she kicked outward, aiming for his groin. If she was at all successful, she would roll her body and burst out of the ally way, back into the market area as fast as her legs could carry her and never stopping until she was somewhere safe.

[Exit Merrin (?) OOC: Totally up to you if she gets out of this...]

She struggled in his grasp, tears filling her eyes before falling to wet her cheeks. He paid it no mind. He fueled his own temper with each question that passed his lips. Her ragged breathing grated against his nerves, serving to infuriate him more. Her whine, a plea for mercy, was ignored. A fire erupted in his gaze, accompanied by his lips lifting to bare his teeth in a cruel snarl.

His own gaze would narrow in response to her own eyes popping open with a new found clarity. Caught off guard, she'd slip from his grasp, falling to the ground with a loud thud. His snarl was caught off by a grunt as her kick met its mark. Pain made his stomach lurch as his body curled in on itself in response.

While he was preoccupied, she would take full advantage and tore down the alley. All he could do was following her with his eyes. A dark chuckle rolled off his tongue as he shook himself. She may have escaped him, but he wasn't letting her go. He knew where she was now.
