i used to wake up with the moon
praying for the sun to die soon

i used to get caught in the clouds
with blood on my face, with the strangest smile
hoping for the wind to carry me away

This isn't her typical job, no, but Nyx has nothing better to do and the promise of all the blackcurrant mead she can drink is as good a motivation as any to bring her out here, not to mention how she itches with anticipation at the prospect of a challenge, a way to test her might and skill as a hunter.

A white stag was allegedly seen out here, by some wolf who came to the falls to wash up after a long day; who knows if it's the truth, bastard could've been delirious, but it got the attention of a well-bred meadmaker who decided he wanted the thing as a trophy. Nyx just so happened to be passing through and he put her up to the task, thinking she looked strong and capable and perfect for the job. She wouldn't be surprised if he'd sent a few others out here on the same mission but Nyx isn't bothered if there is competition.

This all is just a game to her, a way to kill some time and get her blood pumping. Whether or not she finds this mysterious pale stag, she's certain to stumble across something tonight. Perhaps something she can turn in somewhere for a little extra pay, or perhaps something more exciting than that. Wouldn't it be fun to run into a bear or a band of ruffians? Thinking of all the possibilities, Nyx smirks as she carefully hops across some rocks creating an uneven path across a small creek, the golden evening sunlight shining on her dark back.

She catches a whiff of something interesting on the winter breeze. Though it's still a bit too distant and faint to make out in much detail yet, she moves on towards it, eager to investigate.
