THE INCUBUS PIRATE
Stretching as he awoke on yet another ghost ship, he lounged in the captain's quarters where the sun and gulls had no place to bother him though it left him with little knowledge of where it had taken him this time. The rise and fall of the deck, however, made him know it was choppy water of some sort, which either meant the outskirts or he was in the middle of a storm. As much as he deemed himself the lord of these vessels, he had no control over where it landed, forever stuck with where it chose to be. There was a chance he was still in the middle of the ocean and with it any source of fresh water to drink. He was exceptionally parched, feeling his dry tongue stick to the roof of his mouth. Letting out a yawn, he’d rise from the confines of safety, pushing open the door so he could get onto the deck and see the world from up above with a glimmer of hope he had reached a destination so he may refuel himself of fluids and meat. There was no glow above him as he got into the open air, a dark set of clouds hovering up above the ship. His head tilted up to look at them, instantly growing a distaste for how they looked, knowing they were cause for concern for they could turn into something dangerous in no time as the wind had clearly already picked up. Running up to the bow, he hopped onto a railing before jumping onto the bowsprit to get as high up as possible with his wolf paws. Land could be seen within a half mile of where he was left rocking along the tides, making him feel a little bit of relief but also worry as he took in that it could turn dangerous if the bottom of the boat smacked into the rocks just before the beach. A growl rolled from his throat as he brashly jumped off the plank of wood to go and try to yank on the mainsail to try and get the wind to catch it a different direction so it wouldn’t go plowing into the stones. His attempts would be fruitless, causing him to look around for a different option. If only he could drive this dang thing and make it do what he wanted as he watched rain start to fall and the rains surge all the higher, making it hard for him to hold any traction. |
