O The soon to be father had not relaxed since Merrin had announced she was expecting their pups. Around the perimeter of their property had once been a lush wilderness with the barest hint of a path, now it was a well worn trail trodden in by the anxious circling of a protective dad. Merrin had stayed close to the cabin, relieving any worries he had about her coming to harm while he was not by her side. It had been nice having her all to himself and he could only hope that she was not weary of his company. They didn’t get many visitors at the cabin and less so as the days closed in to their pups imminent arrival. He was still not ‘ready’ for them. As much as he was excited to meet them there was a certainty of their protection while they stayed in Merrin’s belly. A howl drew his ears to attention and within half a second he was bolting through the underbrush, caring not for the painful click of his ribs, as he raced to her side. When he found her he was relieved to see that she was not in danger, but that it was the pups that were troubling her. W-What should I do? he asked, trying to stay calm for her despite his rising panic and touching his nose to her forehead. Whatever she needed he was there for her.

S "Love you too," he murmured softly, giving her ear gentle and reassuring licks until his tongue was dry and tingling and her ear was a soggy mess. A cry came and his stomach knotted with fear. At first he didn’t realise that the tiny cries were their first born as he was too busy worrying about Merrin. The new mother was quick to press the silver and white newborn against her chest and Argent simply stared, utterly dumbfounded. "Meet your daughter, Luciel." Daughter.. They had a daughter. Merrin’s words brought him out of his trance and he peered down at the pup, jaws agape in disbelief. "I… She’s like you, but she’s like me," he blurted out, utterly amazed by the perfect little pup. In his excitement he forgot that litters normally consisted of more than one pup. He’d been an only child after all.

A The thought that there might be a third or even a fourth child worried him slightly since he was hardly prepared for two, but he also welcomed them with the same excitement as his first two. "How’re you doing?" he checked in with her, slight concern wrinkling his brow. Merrin was a tough lady, but he recognised signs of exhaustion taking its toll. If it was up to him he’d take over for her, unfortunately biologically he couldn’t do that. All he could do was be there to support her.

W "You don’t need words. I feel it too," he admitted, voice thick with emotion. The proud new father held his beloved close and admired all three of their beautiful pups, imagining how chaotic and wonderful the next few months of their life would be. He felt his fur grow wet with Merrin’s tears and he remained a comforting warmth surrounding her. She had been through so much and now she finally had the happiness she deserved. "They’re all ours, ours to raise, ours to love… I.. still don’t know what to do. What they need, but I’ll figure it out. I’ll go to classes if I have to," he quietly rumbled in Merrin’s ear, working out some of the nervous energy that was buzzing inside of him. He would figure it out. He would be the father they needed him to be.
