Ara had been raised in the Lowlands, in Maiden's Braid specifically, in the Abbey: a stoutly religious group that worshipped the moon, the Fae, and the metaphysical nature of existence. Raised by Sisters and Mothers that saw her sun sensitivity as a sign that she had been marked by the Fae, she had been kept inside during the day and allowed to roam and study scripture at night. Their best guess was that her sunburns were a sign that she was shirking her blessing. Mostly, Ara agreed—but blessing or curse, she wasn't sure. It was soothing to know that she had been touched by the Fae for it meant that her whole life was not in vain. And, maybe if she found that particularly faerie... she could see about undoing it. Not that she didn't appreciate their kindness (if it was kindness), but life at night was... lonely. Since going to college, she adapted by taking early morning classes and evening ones. In the heat of the day, she tried to nap. At night, she stilled preferred to study. Old habits died hard, no? Because of this, she had few friends. Well, actually, she had three (or four) depending on how she counted. They all fit on one paw! It made her giddy and her tail wagged as she sat in the shade of a willow, the chamomile gingerly held betwixt her teeth as she waited for Raven to appear. A true friend. Not just someone who she spoke to and hoped wanted to be her friend, but someone who had given her a prized symbol of friendship! She peered out of the long fronds, pink nose poking out and motley eyes searching the castle grounds for his earthen fur. @Graeme |
