“Mind if I cut in?” Baelfire’s voice broke in suddenly, startling Sorcha out of her tispy haze. But she gave him a wide grin, hoping to ease some of the tension that was visible in how he held himself. Caspian appeared to do the same, giving Baelfire a playful shove as he joked about the stiffness of his legs. He said something else, though she did not quite pick up on it, aside from the wink that he gave them before sauntering off once again. With a laugh, she turned back to Baelfire, inviting him to join in the steps of the dance. |
Baelfire would never say how grateful he was that Caspian gave up his spot so easily; though the parting comment only added to the one-eyed wolf's ire. He let it go and slipped into place with Sorcha. His steps were not as fluid nor as graceful as Caspian's, but... he tried. "Finally decided to join me?" Sorcha teased as they danced. Well, she was dancing, he was doing something else entirely or so he felt. “I couldn't pass up the chance to dance with the prettiest girl here!” he said, letting out a laugh as he started to loosen up. He hadn't partaken in the earlier drinking (he'd never drank before) but that didn't mean he couldn't have a little fun. He leaned in, a smile on his face. “If you can call what I'm doing dancing,” he said. “Your cousin is nice, when he isn’t insulting my job.” she said, and though the compliment was probably harmless it dug at Baelfire if only because of the jealousy that still lingered beneath his skin. “Yeah, he can be alright,” he said. It wasn't like he hated the guy or anything. “I can beat him up though, if you want me to.” He said, flashing her a smile as he referred to Caspian insulting her trade. He doubted she'd request it of him but if she did... he couldn't say he wouldn't take pleasure in cuffing him over the ears once or twice. He laughed it off with her as they danced, the more he moved the better he got as he followed her lead. He'd danced till they were both too tired and then, perhaps they'd go home together. No, not like that... oh, where was his damn head?! exit via fade out dancing into the night “Baelfire speaking” |
If she flushed at the compliment, it was hidden by the warmth of the alcohol already in her system and the bright smile she gave him in return, dipping her head once again as she gently guided him through the steps. This was different from how she had danced with Caspian, the two taking to the dance like a duck takes to water. But it lacked the intimacy that she and Baelfire shared, as she laughed when he accidentally bumped against her, stumbling over his paws. He leaned into her and laughed. “If you can call what I'm doing dancing,” She grinned back, bumping her shoulder back. “I can beat him up though, if you want me to.” He finished with a grin, and Sorcha tilted her head back as she laughed. |
