![]() TW: Death & blood The stone slick with damp and dewy condensation reminded Reuben of a tomb. Only the warmth of his brother by his side gave him any succour from the freezing hard ground that pierced his skin with cold. He counted down the days in his head, one, two, three, four, waiting for a shadow to fall down the hall, echoing footsteps that would stop in front of the Karsia brothers’ cell and announce his name. The night of his sentencing he had cried, begged and howled himself hoarse for them to let Sulliven go before they came for him. He needed to know that his brother would be safe before he died. Such a mercy would not be granted to him, Reuben's last moments with Sulliven were in their shared cell. He held his brother close, sobbing into his fur and telling him that he would be okay. The guards came, dragged Reuben away by his scruff and those familiar green eyes vanished into the darkness. Just as he had come into the world first, Reuben Karsia left the world first. The jaws of the executioner were the last thing he saw before a tearing pain in his neck and warm wetness began to dye the ground red. His final thoughts were of summer sky eyes and sweet kisses shared in the warmth of the lagoon. |
