the conversation and company had made him forget all about his headache and the package he’d been carrying for sorcha. the only ache he felt now was in his chest and it wasn’t entirely unpleasant. the herbs forgotten, his attention rested solely on her as she voiced her hopefully opinion. he nodded, a gentle smile on his lips. he knew she has lost her father and brother in the rebellion but he wanted to do just what she said— good for his country and kin.
perhaps all that was needed was someone to speak out against the wrongdoings; a gentle nudge in the right direction. he was sure the new king could see reason. he just hoped things would settle quickly and that nobody else would have to suffer. ”Sneaking out in the dead of night just to see me, I like it.” she said, though she probably knew he’d do no such thing. he wasn’t much of a sneak— but whose to say he wouldn’t try if walking out wasn’t an option? he smiled, a chuckle rumbling from his chest. you make it sound so... naughty. he teased before reaching over and nipping her cheek. he stood quickly but made no effort to move away; his tail swayed gently behind him as he looked at her. template © bean |

it seemed she was feeling just as playful and this made him relax more. he enjoyed times like this with her— despite the world around them they couldn’t help but gravitate toward one another it seemed. he felt like he’d known her before he’d known her, for years and years.
it was a strange feeling; and an even stranger thought. “Well then, o’ noble knight, will you still be my escort back to Perth?" she asked, and he looked at the herbs that had been forgotten. of course. anytime, he said as he glanced up at her before bending to pick up the package. he lowered his head slightly, motioning for her to go first. he would trail closely behind and keep and eye out for danger. not that he routinely ran into danger or anything, but he’d been hearing strange stories of soldiers stealing from citizens. he hadn’t experience this himself and now that he was in the army he wasn’t sure if he’d notice it more or not. he hoped not, he hoped it was all made up by bitter highlanders and that things were not as dire as they seemed to be. at least for now he could find peace in spending time with his dearest friend. exit template © bean |
