Her voice became more uncertain as she explained, oh-so-gingerly, that it really came down to what you believed. Victorian nodded with a weak smile, unsure of how he'd dampened her mood. But, as he'd learned while being around Florence and Ferox, it was better not to push. If there was time, sometimes it helped to dig deep into the why's of things. If there wasn't, sometimes moving on was the best medicine, and that's what he chose.
Although the topic they moved onto wasn't exactly a cheerful one either.
Victorian's brow furrowed slightly as he listened. He had always equated wealth with freedom. After all, the whole reason that he was in the army was because he needed a way to pay for his sister's tuition. It was this act of service that essentially granted them access to the public resources in Rionnach and, as a result, he was glad to offer his time to their society. Usually. The protest had warped things in ways that he had yet to reflect upon. He hadn't considered that wealth had its own trappings, that of familial duty.
"I am sorry," he murmured in response, realizing that he was complicit in this too. At the end of the day, he was here to watch her too. His back was to the cage, theoretically, but that didn't give her much privacy. He found himself wanting to help her, to free her in a way that let her in and out of the cage without ever breaking it. Of course, that would require more creativity than the first meeting would allow.
But he'd think about it.
For starters, he could agree to go with her.
Victorian's eyes widened as she suddenly moved toward him, standing taller as she gently nuzzled his cheek. His immediate reaction was to look around, half afraid that Sif would appear from the shadows and have his hide for "flirting with her daughter". Of course, the executioner wasn't there, but he couldn't stop himself from feeling a tad shaken. Alas, there wasn't much time to reflect. Aurora was already promising that, yes, it would be fine and scampering ahead.
Shaking his head, Victorian nodded and bounded after her, eager to keep pace and shield her from any ghouls that might leap out.

"If the accident will."
