history summary:
her grandfather was a famous and celebrated colonel, so the military has been entwined in her life since birth. her father was also a soldier, but "retired" fairly young and left rionnach for another kingdom. unbeknownst to moira even now, it was actually an informal covert operation. her father ended up meeting her mother during his time there, and they had moira. her father brought his new family home to rionnach as soon as moira was old enough to make the journey. her mother died mere months afterwards. with her father emotionally withdrawn and influenced by all the stories and her heritage, she lied about her age in order to join the army as soon as she was able. she'd always been large and strong for her age, and there was her family's reputation to smooth the way, so it was easy enough to get in. she rose through the ranks quickly and achieved lieutenant major at the beginning of the war of 1707. her specialty was training new troops and cultivating goods soldiers. she had the charisma, experience, and above all, the passion. however, this quickly died when she witnessed the aftermath of many frontline battles (especially near maiden's braid/the fae forest - guerrilla warfare), including the suffering of one of her protegees - captain argent, who did not receive the medical care he needed and ended up with a permanent injury, leading to early retirement. she is now a civilian seeking mercenary work and learning that she has a wilder, darker side.
