He knew he wouldn’t die, but he felt like he was. The ache in his body felt deep enough to come from his bones and the fever burning through him made him feel like he was the centre of the sun. The crowds parted as he walked through them, sensing something wrong with the dirty beggar that hobbled his way through Riona. They didn’t want to risk catching something from him. Too bad for them Colburn was all too happy to share the infection that was growing ripe in his veins. It was his mission from Mooneyes and the Cu-Sith would not disappoint her.

The thief moved with the crowds as if he belonged amongst them, tolerating the brush of their fur against his muddy pelt with gritted teeth. When the dizziness got too much and rubbing of the ulcer on his thigh Colburn took a moment to rest against a crumbling stone wall. He didn’t really care about the people who might get sick, but he hoped an Imp or two might suffer along with him. He loathed the way they thought they owned the mainlands, even the redwoods where he called home. He didn’t understand kings, property and taxes. If he wanted something he simply took it consequences be damned.
