do not press this,
I am relentless.
He was just returning to Rionna. The hour was late and the retired Colonel was tired. His journey home had more taxing that he thought after running into Lenora. The last few weeks had already been spent wrapped up in the past, that was just the icing on the cake. The darkest parts of him were secretly pleased though, amused by the fact that Merrin hadn't succeed in life as running from him. She squandered her chance to do better than the first time. It made him chuckle to himself, his head shaking slowly.
Stepping back into town, he walked familiar streets. It felt like an eternity since he had been here. But everything was the same. The streets were quiet with the late hour, occupied only by drunken bar patrons as they stumbled their way home. Buildings remained unchanged, stores remained as they were, only the occasional new one noted. Some things never changed.
Out of habit, his eyes scanned constantly, always aware of his surroundings, wherever he went. Nalik had spent a lift time in the military, that kind of training didn't just go away because he was retired. Ears swiveled casually, reacquainting himself with the sounds of Rionna. Emerald eyes would land on what looked like a wolf, but they were tucked into the shadows - either hiding or taking a moment to themselves. Whatever it was, he didn't care so he didn't linger. He was eager for his bed, not socializing with a stranger in the middle of the night.
