Since the war’s end, Henbane had heard tell of a college that had started within the confines of Saora. She had wanted to see it since she had heard of it and wanted to know what it was about. ‘They say they teach of the Fae, of Highlander lore,’ she thought to herself, recollecting the things that she’d heard in the whispers of others who didn’t quite know that she was listening.

She had left the safety of the Coven, but she knew that she had not left the watchful gaze of the Goddess — as long as she was devout and true in her faith, and did nothing that might go against it, she knew she would not lose that watchful gaze. The knowledge emboldened the young girl slightly, making her feel somewhat invincible, a step above those around her.

That, and the knowledge that had already been bestowed upon her by her sisters and mothers within the Coven.

Bane reached the edge of a stream, seeing several wolves lounging along the bank on the other side. She did not exit the foliage, however, keeping a watchful gaze upon the waters of the stream and the wolves so close to it. The voice of one filtered across, reaching her ears.

‘The Fae have always been a mystery, but as Highlanders, we know more than those in the Mainlands could hope to know. We hold a connection to the knowledge —” The sound of someone approaching behind her made Bane turn her head, green eyes leaving the collected group to turn up on the much-brighter visage of another, a coastal pelt standing out starkly against the usual earthy tones of the Highlanders. Her head canted slightly to the side.

“Who are you?” Bane asked, her voice almost a demand.
