ECLIPSA SERENITY
blink and you'll miss it

Ears would flick as she scampered well enough away from her supposed mother’s loving teachings, her tail swaying as the blood that splattered her danced in the moonlight. Rituals of a full sacrifice wasn’t her cup of tea, to slaughter the weak or the undeserving were not of theirs to judge. Mother seemed to have a different view of that, far different from the cult she grew up in where blood was usually all that was needed for such things. To kill another wolf for no other reason than because she believed the goddess divine would crave such an offering didn’t sit well with her, the sacrifice had seemed not something the celestial would want at all. It wasn’t pure, it wasn’t holy. It was but a sinner that flew too close to the sun that was Wisteria, the daunting witch that seemed far too eager to kill for someone labeled a healer. That man had not begged for death, he had not longed for the release he was being given. It wasn’t right, it wasn’t what was needed right now. It wasn’t what she had called for as the hues of her glow did not drink in red but rather a stunning blue.

A supermoon, so large and all encompassing.

As she walked along the world with lack of any canopy to shield her from the lunar blessing, her paw would snap what felt like a stick at first. A soft hum escaped her when she realized it was another set of remains. It seemed the bones were plentiful in their omens or blessings, a variety of old and new at her paws as she glanced around for her sister on the lighter side of the moon but she was nowhere to be seen. War was coming to this place. They needed to leave but she knew Stella would not so quickly flee when she believed in what Jacob spoke of. A scoff flared her nostrils at the idea of a man continuing to lead this realm, one that she didn’t believe would keep his promises for a better Highlander future, not when his primary step was spilling blood.

The way the bones were arranged told her more of bad tidings over that of anything pleasant, causing her ears to drape back, her gaze scanning over more and more bones the further she looked till one not wolf would catch her attention. A smile curved her lips as she slowly moved toward a set of large antlers, her tail swaying with a new spark of hope. Her head would tilt as she took in the large skull of a beast not often in these forests, trying to read the signs that would fully mean but fondness for the preservation of the bones made her weak at the knees. It was perfect, pristine as if it had never been in the wild at all. Plucked clean by the scavengers of this world, left a slightly off white. Walking around to the other side, her mismatched gaze would look over it for possible imperfections, admiring every inch of the specimen.

Now. Wherever was the rest of it?
