The morning was idyllic. Gentle sunbeams filtered in through the cracked, glass windows. Motes of dust danced within the honeyed glow, waltzing despite the backdrop of spider webs, wilting leaves, and mossy furnishings. Outside, the sound of the waves crashing against stone was far enough away to be counted as soothing white noise. A mouse, fortunate in his timing, sorted through the rubble on his quest for seeds. A bird flew by, its shadow racing over the pair of intertwined wolves and causing the pale one to stir.

One eye opened lazily and he took in the shameless disarray of the "safehouse" he'd found. That eye closed and he breathed, taking in the scents of Sussex and—Orlaith.

Without shifting too much, he turned his head slightly so that he could see her dark fur. She nestled against his chest, sleeping soundly despite the stiff boards beneath them. And, with some annoyance, he saw that Useless had curled up within his tail. Her inky, black body was like a stain of ink against him. He felt the urge to flick his tail and knock her off but, out of Orlaith's presence alone, exercised restraint. Useless could start meowing again the moment that she woke up and that would certainly not unburden Orlaith's slumber.

Sighing, Elias laid his head back down. While his expression remained as impassive as ever, his lips just barely curled up at the ends in what could (with great charity) be called a smile. Or a ghost of one.

Vivid dreams of beautiful flowers, rolling landscapes and the smell of the ocean painted her minds eye as the woman slumbered. Emotions of peace, comfort and belonging flooded her veins, filling her body with positivity in preparation for her to awaken. A soft smile could be seen upon her muzzle if one looked close enough, despite her eyes being shut.

Her heartrate quickened as Elias moved, however, resting his larger head next to her. His scent enveloped her again; perhaps the reason she had roused to begin with was it's brief absence as he observed their little hideout.

And slowly, the memories from the night prior bled into her mind. And a hot, brilliantly red blush lit her cheeks on fire as she realized she was curled comfortably into his form; as she realized that, for the first time since she was a young girl with two protective older brothers, she felt safe and... loved. If she wasn't so in shock at the fact that they had... if it were possible, she would have blushed harder, unable to even use the words within her own mind to describe what they had done, tears may have sprung to her eyes. Instead, she opted to bury her face into the rich, plush fur of his chest, a gentle giggle leaving her lungs like chimes sounding from a soft summer breeze.

She just couldn't believe it.

Too shy to directly look at him yet, instead Orlaith reveled in his presence, wondering what was going on behind those icey eyes.

There was a pleasant soreness to his legs and neck, although whether that was from the night before or the difficulty of sleeping in an abandoned home, Elias couldn't be sure. He found that, while it was annoying, he was less inconvenienced by it than he would have expected. If anything, he felt exceptionally satisfied. Content, even. Where he found the touch of others grating, Orlaith's form was one that he'd curled around without a second thought. If her body was a puzzle piece, his was her compliment. In more ways than one, given the last night's ev—"Mmmm?"

A questioning hum lifted from Elias' lips as Orlaith giggled, her face burying into his chest and concealing the lighter markings that adorned her brow and cheeks. The distraction kept him from sifting through his memories yet he found that he didn't mind. Her interuptions were oddly welcome.

Lowering his head, he swiped his tongue over her ears, then pressed a kiss to her brow.

It was as if a key had clicked into place and unlocked every whim he'd felt. If he found her cute and wished to nuzzle her, he would. If her laugh sounded like music to him, then he'd kiss her more. Such thoughts were foreign to him yet felt simultaneously natural and new. She was his now—especially so. And he hers—although they had yet to clash in their interests. But they'd cross that bridge when they got there.

Settling his head on hers, Elias was comfortable enough to go back to sleep.

- exit Elias via sleep unless stopped lol -

A tornado of butterflies fluttered around within her stomach, causing her to curl more into the crevice of his abdomen; fitting like some kind of perfect puzzle piece. Dark ears flicked backwards, the delicate kiss placed upon her forehead tingling from his touch as her heart rate rose. She wore his affection proudly, childishly envisioning a pretty, earthy crown in place of his kisses. He made her feel so special.

Words failed to form upon her tongue as he roused slightly, a questioning tone rumbling from his chest. But it was too early - too new - for her to speak her truth. It wasn't long ago that she was a stupid young girl, fawning over the cute boys of the Highlands and wondering when and who she would give herself to. To think that she would find herself intertwined with a royal boy from the Mainlands - her younger self would have laughed.

What would her parents think? The thought intruded upon her mind, causing her breathing to hitch for a split second before she forced herself to relax again. They had no idea where she even was at the moment... she would need to let them know as soon as possible. Perhaps after their late morning nap, Orlaith would ask Elias on how to go about contacting them safely.

For now, she decided to ignore the stresses of reality and instead engulf herself in the present; in Elias. Was he happy about...? She blushed again, her cheeks so hot they could probably catch on fire at this point. Never would she have ever guessed they would end up like this, as much as she found him attractive. To this day and for many more, he would continue to surprise her.

With one last glance around their small home, Orlaith breathed in his berry scent, nuzzling her head into his chest fluff and allowing sleep to take her away.

- Exit Orlaith via slumber party -
