do not press this,
I am relentless. He had struck a nerve. Luciel rushed towards him, dropping his weight onto his injured leg carelessly. Surely pain shot up the limb but it did little to soothe the rage that burned in Luciel's eyes. It had the grey wolf sneering. He welcomed the approach with open arms, not flinching even when they stood nose to nose. It was almost like he had the imposter eating out of his palm. Luciel had to strike first.
It was disappointing, the way he deflated in the next breath. Luciel would hurl around a few more words that were meant to harm him, including a comment about his children. He would bristle at that. While he may been a drill sergeant in their youth, his children were his pride and joy. It had cut deeply to know that Merrin had left pregnant and he still didn't know what had become of his second litter.
Luciel would leave, snarling over his shoulders. An amused hum vibrated in Nalik's throat as he watched the other wolf walk away. Lingering not a moment longer, he would return to his work, though his troublesome wife now occupied the forefront of his mind. A few fellow officers would question his delay, to which he answered vaguely that some wolf named Luciel had stopped him. He was intentionally probing, waiting to see what morsels of information he might be able to garner from his peers.
