aurelia rose

It was the early in the morning she awoke with faint nausea and discomfort; still a smile would grace her lips at the thought that it had worked. Aurelia's once slender figure was ever so slightly bulging now and she'd had early symptoms for weeks. She had never been pregnant before but the changes in her body led her to believe that she was. Elation filled her as she moved about the small cottage in effort to tidy the place up before Danya arrived. He often checked on her here in the mornings before running off to work. She didn't know if he had notice the change in her scent or her figure yet but she would be glad to tell him to news either way.

Once she thought she was finished, she moved to the door where she saw the morning light peeking in. It flickered and she blinked a couple times before lifting her muzzle to sniff the air. She could smell him, even hear him approaching as she twitched her ears atop her head. "I'm up!" she chimed cheerily, hoping that he wasn't too far away yet to hear her. Aurelia slowly sat down and wrapped her tail around her small paws, the smile never leaving her face. She saw more flickering of light, a shadow passing by and then smelled his strong scent nearby. She knew he was here now; but before she moved closer she couldn't stop herself from speaking up again. "I'm pretty sure I'm pregnant!" she beamed. It was clear she was very happy about this and why wouldn't she be? They'd been trying, after all.

A few moments passed and Aurelia moved towards his scent, his large presence causing a warming feeling in her gut... or was that the nausea? Her smile faltered as she felt a little queasy. "They're really complaining this morning," she said faintly. She swallowed, hoping she wasn't about to get sick.

"What do you think? I've cleaned up our new home some and I think it'll be perfect for us." she said. Not that she could see well enough to truly get a good cleaning job in alone. There were still some cobwebs and always the dust but... it was a start! "I might have to have one of the girls help me later," she said a little bashfully. She hated asking them to help her with such menial tasks but most were kind and willing enough and they were only minutes from the Howling Moon that she was able to get back and forth with relative ease...

'thoughts' "speaking"

The days that had passed, Danya had felt more and more anxious about what they had decided to do. He was plagued with thoughts about whether he would be a decent father or not. More than once, he had told himself that it mattered none what kind of father that he had had, what had been his example in his childhood. But, it was easier said than done in convincing himself. More than once, he had been up late, pacing back and forth, mind plagued with a myriad of thoughts. Not once, however, did he regret the decision that Aurelia and he had made together. While their motives were perhaps a bit shady at best, the result would not be something that would be, and more so not something that he would ever regret.

Danya was steadfast in his love for Aurelia, and now more than ever, steadfast in his resolve for children.

He had been at the Brothel, getting things set up, able to run themselves for the day. He had spent more and more time away from it, helping Aure find a cottage that they agreed would be good for their little family. They had decided upon one on a hill almost adjacent to the Brothel, tucked between some trees. One of the trees had begun to grow into the side of the small building, roots tangled in the foundation, the trunk holding the wall that it grew against up. While it looked odd to him, he could tell well enough that the structure was sound, that it was safe.

He approached the door, gaze moving over the cottage as he appreciated it for what it was: where their family would be brought into the world and raised. He couldn’t help but smile a little to himself. Aurelia appeared in the door way, his smile widening ever so slightly at the sight of her.

She seemed to be glowing recently.

“I’m up!” She said cheerfully once he was within earshot.

“Good morning, my love,” Danya said as he drew closer to her. He came close enough to almost touch his nose to her cheek.

“I’m pretty sure I’m pregnant!” She beamed, before he could greet her properly. Danya stopped short, his eyes growing wide.

“Really?!” He asked, ears perked atop his head, tail lifting slightly. He couldn’t control the slight sway that it had as an eager happiness began to wash over him. “Oh that is great news!”

“They’re really complaining this morning,” she said, her voice faint. He heard her swallow. She looked as if she didn’t feel too good. His head tilted slightly to the side. Admittedly… Danya didn’t know anything about pregnancy, but from the things he had heard… perhaps it was the ‘morning sickness’ that she felt? She moved on quickly, however.

“What do you think? I’ve cleaned up our new home some and I think it’ll be perfect for us,” Aurelia said. Danya peeked in the door. Some dust and cobwebs still hung around, but that was to be expected. He beamed, giving her a lick on the cheek.

“I think it looks perfect, my love,” Danya rumbled happily. He would get one of the courtesans to come and help a little more, but it was a good start. Between Aurelia, himself, and an extra set of paws, the cobwebs and dust would be of no consequence soon enough.

“I might have to have one of the girls help me later,” Aurelia said, sounding a little shy. Danya smiled, giving a small chuckle.

“I’m sure at least one of them would be delighted to. I think most of them are quite thrilled with the possibility of pups for us,” Danya said. “Between the three sets of paws, this place will be ready in no time for the little ones. But you’ve done a great job, Aurelia.” He moved, nuzzling his nose into her shoulder, drinking in her scent for a moment. She did smell a little different, he noted. It only made him that much happier.
