There was a small smile that managed to touch their lips at his reply, wondering if he would even go far enough south to see the little magical insects when it got a little warmer out, making their tail sway just a touch at the idea. Taking in a breath, they fantasized about it a little, clearing their head of the bad and replacing it with the good of a more pleasant future for the time being. Trying their hardest to keep that more relaxed mindset that had started to take root, to live by their own advice they sprouted so easily to others. It was always easier when it wasn’t your own issues to be the optimist and they would allow Brann to be that bit of light for them, that tiny speck that could make the shadows recede with his gently placed smile.

They had no reason to distrust him.

Ceruleans widened as a shoulder was offered, suddenly feeling a bit of awkwardness bubble up. Usually they had no issues hopping into another’s personal bubble, so they didn’t know why this made their stomach almost nervous. Maybe just because he was no bigger, their weight would surely be a burden on him or afraid of getting mud or vomit on him. Maybe it was something else entirely. They couldn’t be sure but they wouldn’t hold their breath or thoughts on it for long. He was a friend and at this moment he would be home too until their siblings might return to them.

The hesitation would be noticeable before they would allow their body to press into his, taking a lot of the weight off their legs as they walked. Feeling warmth almost immediately chasing some chill out of their body. It was welcoming, now greatly wanting the cold cocoon of mud off their body. Carefully they would stretch their neck out to lean up and gently rasp their tongue over his ear in silent thankful kiss, not thinking at all it might be over familiar. “Is the forest your home?” they asked curiously, after a brief pause to withdraw their head back. He knew they were from Aberdeen but they didn’t know where he resided.

Brann smiled slightly as Cordie accepted his offer for help, for support. They were friends, and supporting each other was what friends did. Brann had to admit that in a way, his ‘Chieftain’ demeanor had come out somewhat with them, in getting them to their feet and moving. Because that was what was needed – but who was Brann if not someone that did what was needed?

As Cordie’s weight leaned against him, Brann’s muscles tensed to keep himself balanced as they walked. Each step brought them closer and closer to the moment of which Cordie would be able to get the rest that they needed. Brann blinked in slight surprise as a tongue rasped over his ear. He felt his cheeks suddenly burn, thankful for the darkened and earthen hues upon his face — had he had white fur, the redness of the skin beneath might have shone through.

Why did that make him blush?

“Is the forest your home?” They asked, distracting him from his thoughts.

“It is,” Brann said, glancing towards them. “Perth has always been my home, I was born in this forest. In the very same den site that my family lives in.” A small detail about himself, but it was him opening up to them, nonetheless. He felt a sense of comfort in Cordie’s presence. He smiled slightly to himself, although he did not know why.

Soon, they would be safe and sound.
