Maeve had woken up that morning before the sun was able to rise over the mountains. In the time of darkness, he had started working in her garden, grabbing the buckets of water she would use to make sure her flowers would continue to thrive and bloom. Some of them had not yet bloomed, due to the weather being unsavory. Others would wait until other flowers bloomed, as if they needed the gentle coaxing to show off their beauty. Whatever it was, Maeve was patient and kind, knowing that they would do what they needed with her tender love and care. Gently she sprinkled the base of their stems, soaking the earth and soil in the refreshing water from the lake. It was not an easy task, but it was one she loved to do. She sang to herself as she got to work. Over the years she had learned what over watering and under watering looked like.
She started to clean herself and dunked her head under water, only to quickly bring it back up again. She swam a few laps in the water, giggling to herself. She was having a bit of fun, forgetting why she even went into the water in the first place.

It was a long, arduous walk back to Melrose from Yorkshire... At least it was for Anthe and her perpetually aching joints. She winced as she walked, each step making her legs ache from shoulder to toe-tip. She had decided, though it would make her journey a touch longer, to swing by Mirror Lake on her way home to her mothers. Perhaps a dip in the cold mountain run-off would help quiet her protesting joints... and she could take a moment to compose herself and her warring thoughts and feelings before she had to face Kyler or Nephele... It pained her to think she may have caused them to worry, but she couldn't simply let her life and this war pass by while she ached and cried in her den for relief.
As she came over one final rise, the crystal clear lake below came brilliantly into view... and with it, a form splashing about in the glittering water below. The sound of distant laughter reached her ears and, despite herself, she smiled at the sight. Cautiously, Anthe made her way down to the waters edge and cleared her throat, to at least hopefully avoid startling the stranger... in these times of tension, it wouldn't behoove her to go around frightening others whose allegiance she was unsure of. "Mind a bit of company? I've been walking a while... could use the brisk plunge to refresh myself," she called out, her tail waving gently behind her. |
The female was enjoying her time in the refreshing water, when she heard a voice break the silence near her. She quickly turned to see who was there. A female was by the water's edge. Maeve could not help but to notice that she was a very beautiful tri-color wolf. They were of the same size it had seemed, and she could not stop staring into the striking eyes that were staring back at her. Orbs of red bore into the soul of the girl in the water.
But she realized that she was very obvious, and for her sake, she hoped the other did not mind it.

I don't own this lake... of course you can!" Anthe couldn't help the smile that tugged at her lips at the girls sweet voice, and lilting laughter. She found her tail wagging graciously as she stepped out into the water, forcing herself to stifle a hiss at the frigid temperature. Her face likely betrayed her surprise and discomfort for a moment before she regained most of her composure, and flashed the stranger a toothy grin. "In a manner of speaking... yes, I don't live far from here. I was, uh..." she paused, catching herself before she said something stupid without even knowing where the other woman's loyalties lay.
"I was visiting my sister, and an old friend. My joints were aching from the long walk - so here I am. How about you?" she continued as smoothly as she could manage. Taking a deep, steeling breath, Anthe continued a bit deeper into the water so she was submerged up to her chest before fixing her ruby gaze back on the other woman. "I'm Anthe, by the way... Anthe Fritz." |
She was gently kicking around the water as she glided around the lake. She was listening to the other.
