The moonlight shimmered across the snow, glinting with the richness of a thousand diamonds. It gleamed against the spatters of blood, and in that circle was the reflection of the heavenly body: a beautiful, perfect copy made true on Gaia’s flesh. It was a red moon in that pool. That witnessed the banduri druid’s spell. It was an omen of terrible, glorious portent.

But no less was the message in this daughter of the North. The Morrigan sent a vision of darkness and light intertwined, a symbol of balance, a symbol of the purge to come. Yvaine felt better, stronger, more vivacious than she had in months. The girl’s fateful words were a thrill, were passion that sent shivers down the banduri’s spine. Soon, there would be no mistaking the truth:

This piebald creature was The Morrigan’s promise fulfilled; Yvaine Lusk served her goddesses well.

The distance between the two vanished, but there was no danger in the witch’s aura anymore. A familial, almost motherly adoration emanated from the scarlet she-wolf as she whispered an ancient fortune. “Tha mi faicinn crùn ; tha mi ga fhaicinn dearg.”

I see crimson; I see it red.

The mainlander pawn would fall at the feet of true power. Almost embracing her, Yvaine breathed, “What is the name of my new sister?”

Her was one of a praise and relation, it would seem. The woman before her was a new woman, the only thing unchanged was the fur on her body and hues in her head. She was.. radiant, but potent. She held a calmness that didn't seem like a double ended blade, and so the distance between them seemed.. welcomed.

“Tha mi faicinn crùn ; tha mi ga fhaicinn dearg.” the melody of ancient and praised testimony among any highlander that shared the same truths rang about between the little distance between the two women.

What is the name of my new sister? as if being welcomed into the fold of a coming force to be built, to be reckoned with. Emerald hues sought the silver hues that were burying themselves into Lorelei's presence. Lorelei". Hearing her name-her real identity- was a fairly foreign sound to her own ears, after having keeping it hidden from anyone she didn't know for so long.

She searched the woman, looking for the "what's next" in her future words or looks. What was next? You didn't simply speak of the downfall of the crown with a stranger and not dive into the follow through.

“Lorelei,” the banduri breathed in reverence. The moonbright eyes inside her skull danced like the stars in heaven, burning with a fire cold enough to consume all. The smile that graced her ebony lips was kind, softening in an almost maternal manner. But the energy that radiated from her was intense. Dangerous. Even now, the witch felt the sores that once marred her throat shrinking, smoothing. This creature of duality, inviting and mysterious, lovely and bold, donning the colors of the Cailleach and the Morrigan alike: Lorelei was everything that Yvaine Lusk had waited for. Now that she was here, yearning to free the fae from their prison of forgotten ceremony, the banduri could scarcely believe her luck.

She didn’t care about Lorelei’s past, or why she was here now. She didn’t know that Lorelei was a thief for hire. She would love to learn those things in time, but the witch’s faith blinded her to everything but the sign. Yvaine knew, in her wicked heart…this was fate.

“Join me,” the witch purred, delight dancing in the notes of her deep, but feminine highlander accent. She nodded for the younger woman to step into the circle of blood with her, to cross the threshold of dark rituals. This was the point of no return. “Dance with me, in the moonlight. Let the blood anoint your feet. And then…we will begin the hunt.” The witch meant that both literally and figuratively. If Lorelei joined her ritual, they would race through the night, killing together whatever prey first crossed their paths. But it meant more. The hunt was just a taste of the blood sacrifice they offered the fae: dethroning a filthy Mainlander.
