She was on her way to Sussex. That's where her apothecary shop resided, after all. The one with all the herbs and all the things that she needed. Since Roisin had... stopped coming to work, and servants were apparently hard to find, she had not had her medicine in too long. So she would go herself. She would venture to the shop herself, demand the supply she needed, and be on her way.

That was her plan. But....

she'd never actually been there herself. A shame, because she didn't know it's exact location. But she had an idea, and that was enough for her to leave the everlasting tower to the commonplace. She knew that she would be in trouble if it were found out that she left -- what would her husband do?

Ah, well - - it couldn't be helped.

She needed her herbs.

She had been waking up, and it was unacceptable.

The woman lifted her dark sky eyes to the canopy ; late sunlight was filtering through the colored canopy, and it was truly beautiful, if one stopped to admire it.
But she only frowned. She didn't want the beauty of the woods, she didn't want to smell the fertile soil and the decaying leaves -- she didn't want any of it.

She felt like she'd been dead for decades, and she wanted her senses to agree.

Unfortunately she couldn't do that without her herbs. So as soon as she found the path...

The pale woman stopped in her tracks and looked around with a hazy stare. Now... which way?

How long had it been since he'd seen another soul? Sinclair couldn't even count the days anymore. He'd evaded all those seeking to come close and managed to keep to himself but the loneliness perhaps what drove him near town now. He lingered on the outskirts before deciding his plan was foolish and then turned to be on his way again--maybe the highlands would be a good place to hide out for a time and then, who knew where he'd end up.

As he walked, he thought he saw the figure of another wolf standing in the pathway. He debated momentarily on what to do before just who it was registered in his head. Sinclair's mind went blank as he realized it was Lye standing there, looking lost and confused. His throat went dry and his chest constricted as he looked at her. He wanted to run, both to her and away from her, but he couldn't find the willpower to do either in the moment so he just stood there and stared for what seemed like an eternity.

Finally, before she could notice him, his paws started to work and he started to move. However, it wasn't in the direction he wanted as he found himself carried closer and closer until he was standing before her. Without thinking, or saying a word, he pressed his muzzle against hers and closed his lavender eyes. It was all he could do, just to see if she were real.

No. No no no. She wasn't just waking up--

The scent washed over her, so familiar and yet foreign, so intrinsic to her very being that it caused her body to lock up, her stomach to spin, her tail to stiffen.--

She wasn't waking up; she was now jolted awake.

He stood there, so suddenly in front of her -- like he had in her dreams, like he had in her nightmares (before she found herbs that made her nights mercifully dark, soothingly empty. How could she be awake? She had to be dreaming -- but she didn't dream anymore -- but --

The shadow moved closer and her heart thudded heavily in her chest, thudding against her ribcage and causing it to feel as if an earthquake were happening inside of her.

He touched her and all at once scenes flashed through her mind -- luminous eyes and wayward ties -- flashes of fangs of wine of pleasure -- running, running, running -- little squeals, violent growls -- fear, true fear, true pain, truth --

"Don't!" she snarled and ripped her muzzle away. Dark blue eyes blazed to life, adrenaline flying through veins and causing her breaths to come quickly. With space between them she stared at him-- she felt so achingly at home as she stared at him, and so fearful and furious and hateful --

"How could you think you could touch me? After all this time?" she hissed.

She was really here... and then she wasn't.

As she snarled and ripped her muzzle away a pit began to grow in his stomach and he stared at her longingly. He'd just wanted a few more (infinite) moments with her, stuck in the past where things weren't as they were now.

"I--" he began, but the words would not come. Sadness cloaked him as he looked at her, wishing things could go back to the beginning when they were happy. "I'm so sorry... for everything. Please," he began to beg as he stepped closer again. He didn't touch her but he wanted to. He wanted to drown in her again and never return and all the while his mind was screaming at him to get away like he should and leave her be. It wasn't safe, she wasn't safe here, with him.

But he couldn't care about any of that when he was faced with her reality right before him. "I still..." he choked on the words and closed his eyes before reopening them and peering at her. ...love you... and he likely always would.
