The Vault

A large, rocky path leads down into this subterranean refuge within the mountains. The Vault is an odd natural combination of cave and cavern. There is only one way in, but that does not mean it is entirely below-ground. Bioluminescent mushrooms light the way, and occasionally, the thick stone walls crack, allowing light to spear through. The Vault is labyrinthian, with plenty of pockets and carve outs that citizens have made into countless sleeping areas. Sometimes a tunnel ends in darkness; other times, it opens up into a natural balcony on the side of the mountain. Within the confines of the Vault, the air is cool and comforting. It is not uncommon for newcomers to get lost amongst the twists and turns of these interconnected caves, but this is a populated area, and a native is always there to lend a hand in the semi-darkness.
